Current position and background
Rhiannon brings 40 years’ experience working in health and care, including primary care and health visiting. She held several safeguarding roles during her career including in her first national organisational role within the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust, before moving to her second national organisational role in Public Health Wales.
Rhiannon was most recently Executive Director of Quality Nursing and Allied Health Professionals at Public Health Wales (2013 to 2023) where she led on several key areas including quality, governance, risk, service user experience, infection prevention and control, and safeguarding which included being executive lead for the NHS Wales safeguarding service. She also undertook a chairing role for the Wales Maternity and Neonatal Collaborative and the Nursing Now Cymru/Wales campaign culminating in a publication Celebrating Nursing and Midwifery in Wales (Sept 2021).
Appointed in 2023, Rhiannon is currently a Non-Executive Director at Dorset Integrated Care Board where she is also Chair of the Quality, Experience and Safety Committee and a member of several other Board committees. She also trained as a counsellor and subsequently as a business coach and has her own coaching business which she established in 2023.
