Johanna Stevenson
Registered nursing associate
What does being a nursing associate mean to you?
‘I am now a registered clinician and accountable for my own actions and expectations of being professional at all times. It also means I have gained more knowledge in physical health care and aligned that to the mental health needs of my patients.’
What’s been your most rewarding moment as a registered nursing associate?
‘The nursing associate role is now more acknowledged by patients and their families. Hearing that they have a better understanding of my role, has helped to build trust in those that I care for.’
What advice do you have for someone training, or thinking of training, to be a nursing associate?
‘Go for it, without a second thought. This is a great opportunity for you to improve and gain more skills, both within mental and physical health.’
