Raising the Bar report: Shape of Caring review
Our work on the recommendations
The Raising the Bar report made 34 recommendations for the education and training of nurses and care assistants in England. The review was co-sponsored by the NMC and Health Education England, and the independent shape of caring review was led by Lord Willis and published in March 2015.
We welcome the publication of the report as a stimulus to discussion and debate. As the professional regulator of nurses, we will consider several of these recommendations in detail as they relate to NMC standards and to our education function. We will look at the recommendations in a UK-wide context and also consider implications for our role as the regulator of midwives as and where this is relevant. Over the next few months we will be engaging with senior stakeholders across the four countries of the UK to put together our response to the report.
Twitter chats
We took part in a series of joint Twitter chats with Health Education England during September 2015, exploring different themes of the review.
