NMC seeks new Council Associates
Published on 27 October 2022
Our Council is looking for two new Associates to join us in early 2023
This development opportunity is open to midwives, nurses and nursing associates on our register from across all four countries of the UK. We are particularly keen to encourage applicants from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities.
We are looking for professionals with the potential and talent to become non-executive directors in the future. Council Associates have the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of what being a Council member involves by contributing to all aspects of the Council’s work.
Sir David Warren, Chair of the Council, said:
“This is an exciting opportunity for two talented professionals on our register to gain experience and develop the skills to become a future non-executive director. You’ll join a highly motivated Council, united in our ambition to uphold safe, effective and kind nursing and midwifery practice that improves everyone’s health and wellbeing.
“We particularly want to hear from professionals who embody our NMC values of fairness, kindness, ambition and collaboration. As a Council committed to equality, diversity and inclusion, we encourage applicants from all backgrounds able to bring diverse perspectives to our work.
“I’d like to take this opportunity to thank our current Associates, Tracey MacCormack and Dr Gloria Rowland MBE. Our Council has benefited greatly from their invaluable contribution over the past two years and I am glad they have both had such a positive experience.”
Tracey McCormack and Gloria Rowland said:
“Our experience as NMC Council Associates has been a really positive one. We were made to feel very welcome, we learnt a lot about how the NMC works and could make a meaningful contribution.
If you’re interested in becoming a non-executive director in the future, but feel you don’t yet have the experience, this could be the perfect opportunity for you and we’d encourage you to apply.”
