Our response to additional health and social care funding Spending Review announcement

Our response
Andrea Sutcliffe CBE, Chief Executive and Registrar at the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) said:
“For people using and working in health and social care services, the spending review announcement of additional funding is a welcome start.
“Against a backdrop of high vacancies, increased pressure on remaining staff and dramatically changing health and care needs, the NMC has long called for investment in training and professional development for nurses, midwives and nursing associates. Along with other nursing and midwifery leaders, I’m glad to see our voice has been heard.
“The increased funding for adult social care is a desperately needed boost though by no means an overly generous one.
“It’s clear there’s a long way to go before we can reap the rewards of a fully planned and integrated health and social care workforce that can sustain the quality of care we all want to see.”
