The UK Government has reached an agreement with Switzerland to enter into a new relationship beginning on 1 January 2021.
Full registration
This means you can use a qualification that would previously have been automatically recognised by EU law to apply for registration with us if you started training before 31 December 2020 and you're either:
- a Swiss national,
- a non-EEA member state national who is the dependent or spouse of a Swiss national, a UK national who has settled in Switzerland; or
- a non-EEA member state national who is the dependent or spouse of a UK national who has settled in Switzerland.
This process will continue for up to four years under the terms of the agreement, until 31 December 2025.
Temporary and occasional registration
You can also apply for temporary and occasional (T&O) registration until 31 December 2025, but you must have a pre-existing contract to provide T&O services in the UK before 1 January 2021.
You may only provide T&O services for up to 90 days per calendar year.
How to apply
If you believe you meet the above and would like to apply for either full registration or temporary and occasional registration, please email EU.enquiries@nmc-uk.org, so we can provide detailed guidance for you and let you know how to start your application.
Please note that following the end of the transition period, you will not be able to apply for registration using the European Professional Card.
